RockON! is a bilingual magazine and website ( www.rock-on.ca ) about career opportunities in Ontario's mining industry. It  was launched last fall by Northern Ontario Business with support from the Ontario Mining Association, the Mining Industry Training and Advisory Council, mining companies, mining suppliers, government and post-secondary institutions. Copies were distributed to every secondary school in Northern Ontario.

The other scholarship winners are Sherry Brown of Richmond and Darcy Moreau of Kirkland Lake.

Each student demonstrated his or her interest in a future career in the mining industry by writing a 200 to 300-word essay. As part of the qualification process, students were required to be enrolled in full-time studies or completing final credits toward a high school diploma at a secondary institution in Ontario. They also were required to demonstrate their intent to pursue a career in mining or a mining-related field.
