Hairstylist Lorraine Blouin-Racicot is giving one day of her
time and talent to help the homeless.
She is inviting people in need to her hairstyling shop at 66
Elm St. for a free haircut for the Christmas season.
"A good hair styling is very important to personal appearance.
You feel like a new person. That's why  Monday, I am going
give the homeless my time on my day off to give them a hair
wash and cut for free," said Blouin-Racicot, whose shop is
called Lorraine's Affordable Cuts and Styles.
"Please come and see me and and my daughter Ronda on Dec. 4 from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Someone who cares will be waiting for you," she said.
Two of her friends are also donating their time to help
out.
"Diane Houle, who works at the Finlandia seniors home, and
Beverly O' Bomsawin, who teaches at the hairstyling academy on
Barry Downe will be helping me. They worked with me here at
Lorraine's Affordable Cuts and Styles." she said.
Perspective clients need a ticket to get the Christmas treat.
They can be obtained at the Corner Clinic, Elgin Mission and
First Steps, all located in the Samaritan Centre on Elgin
St.
Friend and community volunteer Bill Moore is helping to promote
this little bit of Christmas cheer.
"Lorraine tried this service last year, but she only got about
15 people out. So I decided to help her out with the marketing
and contacting the media. It seems to be working as we expect
up to 70 people participating this year," said Moore.
