Jeremy Smith said he's excited to hear if his submissions made it onto the Methods of Mayhem album A Public Disservice Announcement, scheduled to come out today (Sept. 21).

Smith, the owner of Sonic Northern Studio and a Greater Sudbury resident, submitted “parts” of songs to www.thepublicrecord.com to be considered for use on future albums. He also submitted parts for Shooter Jennings and Rob Zombie songs.

He said he was fortunate enough to attract the ears of the people putting the final product together. The work Smith submitted for a Jennings' song made it onto a single which was released in February. His work on the Zombie track has yet to be released.

Smith said for an audio engineer like himself, the recognition he has received from his submissions could open up a lot of doors. He said it's “mind blowing” to have received shout outs for his work on Jennings and Zombie's tracks.

The “worldwide collaboration” has attracted upwards of 10,000 submissions from people around the globe. Since Lee began the project, a number of other artists have also started to take part in the program by allowed others to add parts to their songs.

“What happened is last October, Tommy Lee and his producer Scott Humphrey decided to do the latest Methods of Mayhem album — that's the one Tommy Lee does with various other fellows,” Smith explained. “They decided to put all the songs out on the Internet, one a week, with all the tracks split up so people could add their own parts to it.”

“They're letting people from all over the world get a chance to be on the actual releases.”
