Marymount Academy hosted an Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) Chain of Life Wednesday to promote awareness of the dangers youth face from impaired driving.
"Impaired driving remains the number one killer of teens and we really want to do something to get the students motivated about the issue, get them involved and get them to stop drinking and driving," said Jessica Renzella, Region 11 OSAID representative.
Other Sudbury schools to join the human chain included Bishop Alexander Carter Secondary School, Chelmsford Valley District Composite School, Lockerby Composite School, and Lasalle Secondary School.
After the Chain of Life, students listened to a number of key speakers including, Mayor John Rodriguez, Police Chief Ian Davidson, and OSAID Operations Manager Matt Evans. Councillor Ron Dupuis, Actions Sudbury, the Sudbury and District Health Unit and Sudbury FOCUS Community Project all did their part to help organize the event.
