Two Cambrian College music students deserve to take a bow after competing and winning first place in their divisions at the Ontario Music Festival Association (OMFA) competition.
The event took place from May 27-June 3 in Hamilton.
Nikolas Landry is enrolled in Cambrian College’s three-year Music Performance advanced diploma program and vocalist Dante Mullin-Santone is enrolled in the college's academy of music.
“We are very proud of Nikolas and Dante’s first-rate performances, and we’re pleased to see so many Sudbury-trained music students compete and win against the best in Ontario,” said Jamie Arrowsmith, Cambrian College Music professor and co-ordinator of the College’s Independent Music Production program.
“Every year, students from Cambrian College’s Academy of Music and its Music – Performance program earn accolades at the Kiwanis Music Festival of Sudbury and many of them travel to compete at provincial competitions,” said Matthew Gould, Cambrian College Music professor and director of guitar studies.
“Sudbury has a vibrant music scene, and the success of our students shows that Cambrian is an excellent place to pursue studies in music performance and production.”
“The OMFA awards recognize the best performances by students who have qualified to compete at the provincial level by winning their local Kiwanis Music Festival competitions,” Arrowsmith said.
“It’s outstanding to see so many Sudbury area pupils succeed at this level, and it’s also proof that they have talent and dedication that’s among the best in Ontario.”
