Theatre Cambrian hosts Gordon Drysdale exhibition

Theatre Cambrian is exhibiting the work of local artist Gordon Drysdale to accompany its production of "Grease".

Drysdale is known for his realistic depiction of vintage vehicles. His artwork is often mistaken for photographs. Many of these works show abandoned automobiles in quaint rural settings or in period motifs.

In 1999, he won the national first-place award in the Art of the Automobile competition, sponsored by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada.

In 2000, he took national third in the same venue and national second place in 2002, before the competition was discontinued in 2005.

“We, at Theatre Cambrian, are pleased to profile local artists in the front lobby for all of our musical productions,” said Mark Mannisto, executive director of Theatre Cambrian.

“With our production of 'Grease', the 1950’s rock and roll musical, Gord Drysdale seemed to be the perfect choice.”
