Throwback Thursday: Journey back in time to the Royal Visit of 1939

In 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited the Nickel City

Welcome to Sudbury.com's new Throwback Thursday video series.

For the next several weeks, we'll be dusting off some old footage dating as far back as the early 1900's to give you a glimpse into Sudbury's storied past.

In this first episode, we take you back to 1939 when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) visited the Nickel City.

We'd like to thank the City of Greater Sudbury Archives for supplying this cool colour footage.

Stay tuned every Thursday for a new Throwback video. We'll take inside Sudbury schools, down into the early mines of the city, and show you the scenes and landscapes of your town as it once was.

If you have ideas for future episodes or have historical video footage you'd like to share with us, email [email protected]. We'd love to see it.
