TO's Yonge/Dundas getting friendly

(CNW)  Visitors to downtown Toronto are getting a warm welcome thanks to the efforts of the business community.

The public's experience of the Downtown Yonge area is being enhanced by mobile ambassadors, free walking tours, and free special events at Yonge-Dundas Square, across from the Eaton's Centre.

These customer service efforts are part of a strategy that is making the Downtown Yonge area safer, cleaner, and more inviting.

Ken Gruber, chair of the Downtown Yonge BIA marketing committee says, "Downtown Yonge is really making an impact this summer. We've further enhanced our mobile ambassador program; we've patrolled the streets for litter, graffiti and crime; and we're fixing-up our properties to improve the visitor experience. Now we're welcoming the world this summer."

Free one-hour walking tours tours are offered daily from Monday to Sunday at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm. Tours depart from Yonge-Dundas Square at the Discovery Team  information kiosk.

Free summer events include City Cinema Tuesdays at 8:30 pm,  jazz lunchtime concerts Wednesdays at 12:30 pm; and Contemporary World Music every Friday at 6 pm.
