Up your social media game with these photography tips

Intern Annie helps you stand out from the crowd

With everyone on a social media frenzy these days, people are constantly taking, sharing, and liking photos.

With millions of Instagrammers posting numerous pictures each day, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd.

If you want to stray away from the basic shots that everyone is posting, there are a few things you can do to capture original shots.

One way to make something interesting or different is to change the perspective in which you view it. Changing the angle at which your image is taken can give more meaning to your pictures.

Taking pictures looking up at something makes subjects seem larger, giving it a sense of power.

Whereas taking a picture looking down at the subject gives off the sense of innocence, and could make it appear small and helpless.

Playing with things like contrast, light, and colour can affect the mood of your photograph drastically.

The typical posts on social media tend to lean towards the warmer tones that give off feelings of happiness, comfort, and tranquility.

Playing with cooler tones or even black and white could add a dramatic flair to your images that the warmer tones lack. Bumping up your contrast as well as adjusting your shadows and highlights will add dimension opposed to everything being one note.

Lastly, but most importantly, be adventurous with your photography. Sometimes candid photos turn out a million times better than any staged photo ever could.

Even something that appears menial to most can be exquisitely interesting if you just take the time to look.
