Watch as we settle the corn dog vs Pogo debate

This summer, Sudbury.com is on the hunt for the most delicious feasts that our city has to offer in a series we're calling GrEATer Sudbury's Best.

So far we've visited and taste-tested GrEATer Sudbury's Best french friesbest steakbest dessertbest smoothiebest burger and best vegetarian dish.

Last week, we asked you to tell us who has the best corn dog in Greater Sudbury.

Although Pogos are a brand of cooked breaded wiener on a stick found in the frozen aisle, many people in Sudbury insist it is the proper name for the tasty treat, not corn dogs as they are referred to in the United States.

Whether you call them corn dogs, Pogos, pronto pups or crunch wieners — Shack à Patates' breaded wieners on a stick were voted GrEATer Sudbury's Best.

Watch the video as owner Lise Seguin tries to teach reporter Matt Durnan how to fry up a batch of corn dogs.

Shack à patates is located at 4549 Beaver Ave., in Hanmer.

A reminder as you are enjoying the sunny season — the need for blood never takes a holiday. Canadian Blood Services is urging Canadians to help meet patients’ needs this summer by donating blood and by encouraging others to roll up their sleeves. With people away or busy with activities, summer is one of the most challenging times for Canada’s blood system. Blood, it is in you to give.
