Summer began with above normal temperatures across most of
the country.
By August, temperatures dropped slightly balancing out values
to near normal overall from coast to coast.
Canadians can expect the current near normal temperature trend
to continue into the beginning of fall.
Precipitation during the summer months was slightly drier than
normal for most of the country with the northern Prairie and
Maritime provinces experiencing slightly more precipitation
than normal during the summer.
Canadians can expect slightly below normal temperatures for
most of the country in the upcoming few months," says
meteorologist Jose Varela of the Weather Network
Precipitation will also be near seasonal, with the exception of
most of Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan."
Near normal temperatures and precipitation are forecast for
fall, however, if hurricanes track close to Canada's eastern
coast, the region may end the season with slightly above normal
precipitation.
Hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, is
expected to be above normal with 12-14 named storms.
