YES Theatre is holding auditions next month for its August 2017 production of Billy Elliot The Musical.
One of the most beloved shows on stage today, it's the winner of 10 Tony Awards and multiple international awards.
Set in an northeastern England coal mining town during the miners’ strike of 1984/85, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy’s fight to make his dream come true.
Follow Billy’s journey from boxing ring to ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that unites his family, inspires his community and changes his life forever.
Featuring iconic music by Elton John, and based on the 2000 film, Billy Elliot will certainly capture the hearts and minds of our audiences, a press release said.
“We are so proud to be bringing this story to Northern Ontario for the first time,” said YES Theatre artistic director Alessandro Costantini, in a press release.
“This is a piece of theatre that greatly represents our community’s history and tells a story of inspiration for a younger generation in the midst of a difficult time.”
YES Theatre will be holding auditions December 17-18-19.
The company is looking for:
- Young children ages 9-14 for the ensemble. Some dance experience necessary.
- Various roles, all ages.
All applicants must prepare a short a cappella song, and a short monologue.
