Rev. Jeremy Mahood, pastor at All Nations Church in Greater Sudbury, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, the church has confirmed.

Mahood, 69, was also an author of such books as The Character of Christ in You and The Relationship Depot.

He was born in Belfast in 1949 and he and his wife, Eileen, have been married since 1975. Mahood received his BA from Dominican College in New York, and his MA in Bible counselling from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.

He has been pastor at All Nations since 1978 and was ordained by the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec in 1981.

He is chaplain to the Sudbury Wolves, and was chaplain to Greater Sudbury Police for three decades.

Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger issued a statement on Mahood's passing.

"It’s with deep sadness that I learn about the passing of Mr. Jeremy Mahood," said Bigger.  "Mr. Mahood has done so much good for our community and has always had a strong reputation in our community for his kindness, willingness to help others and for the positive impact he has left us with.

"I know that the loss of Mr. Mahood will be felt not only at All Nations Church where he served as Pastor but across our entire community. At this time, on behalf of City Council, I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. Mahood during this difficult time."

The church will be releasing a statement later today on Mahood's passing.

This story will be updated when that information is released.
