12 Days of Kindness: We surprise an educator on her birthday

Danielle Plante exudes positivity despite her personal hardships

It’s day seven of Sudbury.com’s 12 Days of Kindness supported by @homeEnergy.

When the pandemic first hit back in March, schools and daycares across the province were forced to close.

Educators were thrown into an unfamiliar role: trying to teach their students from a distance.

Today, we’re recognizing an educator who not only made the best of the situation, but did it while dealing with hardships of her own.

Danielle Plante is an educational assistant at Churchill Public School.

Sadly, her mother passed away unexpectedly earlier this year and her father was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.*

Despite all that is happening in her life, Danielle remains positive and continues to put her heart and soul into her job.

With help from her colleges, we are going to surprise Danielle on her birthday and show her how wonderful she is.

*After filming the surprise, we received the sad news that Danielle's father passed away on Dec. 17. Our hearts go out to Danielle and her family during this difficult time.
