Police say Incident is under investigation

OPP in Hearst are investigating after a 16-year-old died from a suspected drug overdose.

On Sept. 26 at approximately 4:15 a.m., OPP and Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called out to a residence on Highway 11, west of Hearst. When they arrived, OPP reported finding a 16-year-old (the OPP no longer releases the gender of people they interact with) unresponsive. The teen later died in hospital.

The James Bay Detachments Crime Unit, under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), is investigating, alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS). A post-mortem examination will take place this week.
