As residents in Greater Sudbury continue to practice social distancing Sudbury.com is putting together a weekly list of local virtual events and projects to keep adults busy and offer some welcome distraction from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sparkly Sisters live on Facebook

The Parkside Centre show starring the musical duo The Sparkly Sisters will perform live on Facebook April 24 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Click here to follow their page.

Country music by Claude Lecuyer 

Local country musician Claude Lecuyer is livestreaming concerts from his home on a weekly basis. Join him April 24 and 25 for a double-header. Both shows will begin at 7 p.m. on his Facebook page, found here.

Online Creative Kids Exhibition

Be part of an online art exhibit to celebrate creativity at home. Send the Art Gallery of Sudbury a photo of your masterpiece by emailing [email protected] with your name, age and title for your art piece.

Calming Hatha Online

Calming Hatha is an-all level yoga class suitable for beginners and experienced students. 

Online classes are held on Fridays at 7:15 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m. until May 31.

Wander Food & Wine is hosting a virtual tour of Spain on April 24 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Many different class formats are available! Online class is offered via Facebook live.

ARCtivate 2020 – A Virtual at Home Movement Challenge

ARC Climbing Yoga Fitness will host its first ever Virtual Challenge, ARCtivate 2020 – At home edition.

Experts say it takes 40 days to change or create a new habit.

ARCtivate does just that by asking everyone who participates to get moving for at least 20 minutes daily for 40 days.

Through ARC's social media and YouTube channels, staff will host daily home workouts, yoga classes, and online workshops, in the hopes to help our community members create a new healthy habit, or get people moving and maintain their healthy lifestyles from home.

The fun begins April 5 and runs until May 14.

ARCtivate is free for current members and "pay what you can" for all other participants. Click here to register.

Virtual Day of Mourning ceremony

Honouring workers injured or killed on the job, this year’s Day of Mourning ceremony has deep meaning for working people, as frontline workers continue on the job despite COVID-19 risks, and some have lost their lives.

YES We Stay Home! A community telethon

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, YES Theatre is proud to present a beautiful evening of music, hope and community. 

Join more than 50 artists, arts organizations and local business owners from Greater Sudbury for an evening celebrating our local community.

All donations collected throughout the evening will go directly to the Sudbury Food Bank.
