A gift of warmth from Greater Sudbury, Manitoulin Freemasons

Socks, coats and ski pants donated to the Elgin Street Mission

Sudbury, Manitoulin district Freemasons joined forces to host the organization's annual winter clothing drive, resulting in a significant donation to patrons of the Elgin Street Mission.

The donation was delivered Jan. 28 by a handful of Nickel Lodge representatives, after nearly three months of collecting donations from members of the lodge and the Greater Sudbury community.

Donated items included around 250 pairs of socks, as well as snow pants and coats for both men and women, said Freemason Lionel Rudd. "You name it, it's in there," he said.

The Freemasons are always looking for ways to give back, said Tom Morris, master of Nickel Lodge, and this is just one of their many initiatives.

"We love to be involved in the community and we love to give back," he said.
