Acts of Kindness: Desjardins surprises the soup kitchen on World Kindness Day

Desjardins hands out 150 care packages for patrons at the Blue Door Soup Kitchen

The season of giving is just around the corner and with that, the opportunity to make a positive difference in our community.

On November 13, which just happened to be World Kindness Day, Sudbury.com teamed up with Desjardins to help those in our community who may not have the means to enjoy the holiday season.

Watch as employees from Desjardins visited the Blue Door Soup Kitchen to help serve lunch, provided care packages for all the patrons and surprised the soup kitchen staff with a donation of $1,000.

The Blue Door Soup Kitchen serves up to 250 people a day. As a registered charity, it doesn’t receive government funding, but relies on the generosity of people, businesses and financial institutions like Desjardins in order to keep its doors open.

You can help by making food or monetary donations to the Blue Door Soup Kitchen by calling 705-675-5300 or visiting BlueDoorSoup.ca.
