Air, army and sea cadets march for different drummers

To the victor goes the spoils.

Sudbury sent six drill teams and two bands to the annual Northern Ontario Area Band and Drill Competition, held in North Bay last weekend. Individual honours went to air cadet Warrant Officer 1st Class, Natalie Thompson who was named top air cadet drill team commander. Her brother, Drum Major, Alexandre Thompson was selected top Pipes and Drum Band major.

To the victor goes the spoils. Sudbury Air cadet Warrant Officer 1st Class, Natalie Thompson was named the top air cadet drill team commander and her brother, Drum Major Alexandre Thompson was selected  the top NOA Pipes and Drum Band Drum major  at the annual Northern Ontario Area (NOA) Band and Drill Competition, held in North Bay last weekend.

The brother and sister cadets were part of four Sudbury cadet corps to compete at the NOA competition, a prelude to the  provincial competition.

Army cadets from 2912 in Sudbury captured the title of best Army Cadet Drill Team without Arms and 134 Royal Mountbatten Sea Cadets where honored with the title Best Dress over all Sea Division

Meanwhile, the drum major from 2915 of Capreol came home with the title of top Army Cadet Pipes and Drums Drum Major, while his band took home the honor of top Army Cadet Pipes and Drums Band.

The event drew more than 400 cadets from the Northern Ontario region to compete in events such as drill team without arms, drill team with arms and a Band competition.

Out of the four hundred cadets in the competition, Sudbury corps sent six drill teams and two bands to the competition.

The teams competed in all of the levels of competition included the Class C Pipes and Drums competition and the Class A Drum and Bugle Band competitions.
