Amberwood Suites retirement home issued a statement Friday afternoon expressing grief and sympathy over the death of one of its residents connected to the COVID-19 outbreak at that facility.
"The team at Amberwood is devastated by the loss of a resident," said the statement.
"Today we have lost a member of our family. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and all of our residents and staff, who will be missing this resident very much," the statement continued.
The company also revealed that it is working with community mental health resources to provide residents and staff access to grief counselling and emotional support.
"We continue to work with our community health partners to monitor COVID positive residents and manage the outbreak. These are unprecedented times for our community. Our fight to keep residents comfortable and healthy, and to stop the spread of COVID continues to be our priority," said the statement.
