Angel investor to speak at workshop Nov. 11

The Northern Ontario Enterprise Gateway (NOEG), in partnership with FedNor, is bringing in angel investor Ross Finlay to Sudbury Nov. 11 to speak to businesses and entrepreneurs who may be seeking angel investment.

The Northern Ontario Enterprise Gateway (NOEG), in partnership with FedNor, is bringing in angel investor Ross Finlay to Sudbury Nov. 11 to speak to businesses and entrepreneurs who may be seeking angel investment.

The half-day workshop, which costs $15, starts at noon at the Northern Centre for Advanced Technology Inc (NORCAT) at 1545 Maley Drive in Sudbury.

Ross Finlay is a co-founder and director of the First Angel Network Association – one of Canada’s largest associations for private investors.  Ross has been an angel investor since 2000 and he is also well known for assisting businesses and entrepenuers to prepare for investors.

“Many companies need access to capital for expansion or growth but are unfamiliar with the dynamics of the capital marketplace and the equity selling process,” stated a press release from NOEG.

“This half-day workshop will provide entrepreneurs with real-world insights, strategies that can be applied to their business plans, the legal requirements to sell equity, sources of equity capital, the realities of selling equity in northern Ontario, and valuable information on how to build their investment pitch. “

“As our economy is getting stronger we want to ensure businesses here in the north are given every opportunity to grow, stated Mary Long-Irwin, executive director, NOEG, “Investors are looking for opportunities to invest in businesses here in the North and this half-day workshop may be just the entrepreneur needs to take their business to the next level.”
