Local breast cancer charity Angels in Pink is running a raffle, with the draw set to be held Monday, Nov. 29.
The grand prize is a Wine Advent Calendar kit, with 24 assorted bottles of wine and one bottle of Bailey’s, plus wine accessories, donated by Cindy McCann of The Wine Rack.
There are also 24 consolation prizes.
Tickets cost $5 each or five for $20. Tickets available through Angels in Pink members, Northern Cancer Foundation office, Yoga Revolution or e-transfer (phone 705-560-5983 or 705-918-4927).
Angels in Pink, which was started in 2009, has purchased more than $1 million in early cancer detection equipment for Health Sciences North, mostly centred on breast cancer.
“Some of our equipment has supported the detection of other cancers, too,” said Angels in Pink founder Annette Cressy, in an email.
“As such, we have chosen to aim to purchase this equipment with the proceeds of the raffle. We are raising money to buy a colposcope for $20,000. It is used to detect abnormal cells in the cervix. We hope this raffle will enable us to buy this important piece of early detection equipment.”
