Twenty-four-year-old Lyndon Ferguson will cycle 500 kilometers from Blind River to North Bay July 23-26 in memory of his older brother, Taylor Ferguson.
Taylor died in a boating accident in 2008, when he was 20 years old.
After his death, the Taylor Ferguson Memorial Trust Fund was set up in benefit of the Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation's “Send-A-Kid To Camp” program.
The fund was created with the hope of other children being able to enjoy Taylor's passion for the outdoors in his memory.
Last year, Lyndon raised $6,500 for the cause during the Taylor Ferguson Memorial Ride. He's hoping to match or exceed that total this year.
Lyndon invites cyclists and friends to join him on the final segment of the ride, starting at 11 a.m. July 26 at Adamsdale Playground on Second Avenue.
This circuit will consist of riding two separate 10-kilometre loops through the Minnow Lake area. Each loop will pass Adamsdale Playground, so riders can feel free to break off from the group ride at any time.
Donations to the Taylor Ferguson Memorial Trust Fund can be made at the ride finale at Adamsdale Playground on July 26th, in advance at Merit Travel on Caswell Drive, or by mail to the Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation (noting the Bike Ride Fund Raiser) P.O. Box 1264, Station B, Sudbury, Ontario, P3E 4S7.
