Traffic makes its way past the 89 flags flying along the Bridge of Nations on Paris Street in downtown Sudbury.

The Bridge of Nations on Paris Street will be down to one lane in each direction from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday, March 27, to Thursday, March 30.

The sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians.

The lane closures are part of preparation work in advance of repairs to the bridge, which will begin on April 3 and are scheduled to continue until Oct. 31.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project.

Work will begin on the east side of the bridge, and all vehicle, cycling and pedestrian traffic will be routed to the west side.

At the latest update in June 2022, the bridge project was estimated to cost $7.9 million. Sudbury.com has reached out to the city for a more in-depth report next on the bridge work and what motorists and pedestrians can expect to see take place this year.
