Signage on Municipal Road 55 will advise motorists of upcoming road closures for brief periods on December 5 and December 12.

Another series of brief road closures is expected to occur on Municipal Road 55 near Copper Cliff on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and again on Tuesday, Dec. 12, said a news release from Vale.

This involves maintenance and construction work on the new high-voltage power line conductors to the hydro substation at the South headframe of the Copper Cliff Mine, said the release.

Vale said the road closures on MR 55 will happen in an area about 800 metres west of the intersection of Power Street and MR 55 in Copper Cliff. Vale said road signs have been posted in both directions to warn automobile traffic of the upcoming road closure.

Vale said MR 55 will be closed to traffic in both directions for approximately 20 minutes, three times on December 5 and three times on December 12. Additional closures may occur on December 6, 7, 13 and 14 if needed. Signs will be installed ahead of time to warn automobile traffic in both directions of the upcoming outages.

Greater Sudbury Police Services will be in attendance to control traffic. Lane restrictions will be in place to minimize the disruptions, said Vale.
