Greater Sudbury Communications Manager Eliza Bennett confirmed Thursday that Catherine Matheson will be returning to work at the city following a secondment at the North East LHIN.

While a steady stream of city managers have left in recent months – voluntarily or otherwise – one is coming back to the fold.

Greater Sudbury Communications Manager Eliza Bennett confirmed Thursday that Catherine Matheson will be returning.

Matheson was manager of community development until she left on a secondment with the North East Local Health Integration Network in March 2015. She was replaced on an interim basis by Ron Henderson.

“Catherine has very much enjoyed and appreciated her time at the LHIN, but with the arrival of our new chief administrative officer and the recent approval of the implementation plan for council's strategic plan, she felt that the time was right to return to the city,” Bennett said in an email. “We, and she, are very excited for her return.”

City CAO Ed Archer started work in May, replacing Doug Nadorozny, who was let go last spring and now has the same job in Aurora, Ont.

In the last year, the head of the finance and transit departments have left, along with other lower-level managers. Matheson resumes working at the city Sept. 5
