The world’s hottest video game is making its Sudbury competitive debut Aug 25-26.

The first ever Battle Royale to Battle Cancer Fortnite Tournament will be taking place over the weekend of Aug. 25-26, with a portion of the entry fee supporting the Northern Cancer Foundation.

Players will be dropping out of the battlebus and competing for eliminations head to head in 2-on-2 competitions.

The team with the most eliminations over the span of two matches moves on to the next round while the other team will move into a consolation bracket. Preliminary stages will be played Saturday, Aug. 25 with the semi-finals and grand finals being played the following day.

Registration is $15 and the first 100 registrants will be guaranteed a spot in the tournament.

A portion of the registration fee will be pooled into a cash prize for the top players/team while the remaining portion will be donated to the Northern Cancer Foundation to fund local cancer research at HSNRI.

Competitors will be playing in the comfort of their own homes and reporting the results of their matches to the organizing committee through the event’s Facebook page.
