Calling all new film technicians, free seminars coming up in Sudbury

New film technicians will have a chance to learn more about the industry at a series of seminars hosted by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) 634.

New film technicians will have a chance to learn more about the industry at a series of seminars hosted by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) 634.

IATSE 634 represents over 300 member workers in the Northern Ontario film sector.

The film orientation seminar program is free of charge and participants can chose to attend in the afternoon or evening at following Northern Ontario cities:

Sudbury
Jan. 20
Quality Inn, 390 Elgin St.
Afternoon seminar: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Evening seminar: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

North Bay
Jan. 21
Best Western, 700 Lakeshore Dr.
Afternoon seminar: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Evening seminar: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Sault Ste Marie
Jan. 23
Sault College, 442 Northern Ave.
Afternoon seminar: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Evening seminar: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

IATSE 634 said in a press release that the seminar will be mandatory for all IATSE 634 workers by Jan. 1, 2021.

Applications to join the permittee list, which makes workers eligible for unionized film work in the North, will also be accepted during the orientation.

Industry networking opportunities will run concurrently.
