Cambrian College is the first college in Canada to take part in Let?s Talk Science, a program aimed at improving Science literacy and encouraging youth to consider a career in the science, technology, and engineering fields. Through innovative educational programs, Let?s Talk Science actively engages youth in the learning process and provides real-world, hands-on learning experiences. Cambrian joins the more than 19 Canadian universities that participate in this national program.

Cambrian, in collaboration with the Rainbow District School Board, will introduce Let?s Talk Science into Sudbury schools beginning September 2005. Grade seven students at Copper Cliff Public School and R. L. Beattie Public School will take part in the pilot program.

Let?s Talk Science will enable students to participate in inquiry-based science activities and experiments that will help them to develop skills such as observing, questioning, problem-solving, collaborating, communicating, and critical thinking. The material presented will be relevant to the students? studies and will follow the schools? curriculum.

Let?s Talk Science will be presented to the schools by volunteers from Cambrian College?s skilled trades, technology, and health sciences programs. Over the summer, three Cambrian students will be working on developing the program, including organizing activity days and experiments, and ensuring that the program material is relevant and timely.
