Cambrian College Dental Hygiene students will be celebrating a milestone moment later this month as they take part in their 20th annual Walk for A Smile fundraising event.
The popular event has students lacing up and walking the talk as they log their kilometres and raise funds for local charity.
This year’s proceeds will go towards the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer organization and the Access to Care Fund at Cambrian’s community dental clinic, for those in need of urgent dental care.
“I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 20 years now,” said Heather MacKenzie, a dental hygiene technician with Cambrian’s Dental Hygiene program, in a press release.
“This event really is important as we’re raising money for local charity and ensuring everyone in our region has access to oral health. This walk changes lives for the better in our community.”
This year’s 20th annual Walk for A Smile is taking place Friday, March 31. In celebration of the 20th anniversary milestone, students have set a goal of raising $5,000.
One of the students taking part is Ellysse Charlebois from Harriston, Ont., who is in the third year of the Dental Hygiene program.
“We are very happy to participate in the 20th annual Walk for a Smile. It is such a great fundraiser. We, the graduating class of 2023, are happy to participate and proud to represent Cambrian and help those in need of much needed dental care.”
