Cuts to door-to-door mail delivery could result in 32 job cuts in Sudbury, says the Canadian Union of Postal Workers Local 612.
The union's Save Canada Post Committee will host a public information session and community BBQ regarding the cuts at Adamsdale Park on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The event is part of the union's national week of action to protest the change in Canada Post's service.
The union says the Sudbury job cuts will translate to around $1.75 million in local salaries.
“Local businesses rely on mail delivery and higher postal rates will cost them,” said the Canadian Union of Postal Workers Local 612, in a release. “These costs will be passed on to their customers.”
The free event will begin with an information session at 11 a.m. and a BBQ at 1 p.m.
