St. Peter's United Church celebrates World Labyrinth Day on May 7.

“What do you call the journey of a thousand footsteps that winds up exactly where it began?” a press release said. “The answer lies in the labyrinth: an ancient archetype recently rediscovered as a path of prayer and walking meditation.”

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the church (203 York St.) with an introduction to labyrinths and labyrinth walking with Rev. Gailand MacQueen, followed by family mindfulness activities and snacks and fellowship.

MacQueen, a retired Huntington religious studies professor, is the author of “The Spirituality of Mazes and Labyrinths.”

At 1 p.m., the proceedings move to the St. Peter's Labyrinth at Lourdes Grotto for a group walk of the church's outdoor labyrinth.

For more information, phone the church at 705-675-2171.
