Cinéfest Sudbury announced on May 18 that they will screen ‘The Phantom of the Open’ as a part of the Red Carpet Patron Program film presentation 2022.

The event is sponsored by Desjardins and will be screened at SilverCity Sudbury on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Cinéfest Sudbury’s Red Carpet Patron Program offers year-round discounts from participating local businesses, complimentary tickets (including a ticket to the screening of 'The Phantom of the Open'), entry into quarterly raffles and more. Check the website here for more information on the program.

The June 22 film is a sports drama starring Mark Rylance (an Academy Award winner for "Bridge of Spies") and Sally Hawkins (an Academy Award nominee for "Blue Jasmine" and "The Shape of Water", which won Best Picture in 2018).

"The Phantom of the Open" is directed by Craig Roberts and follows the true story of Maurice Flitcroft (Rylance), a crane operator from Barrow-in-Furness who managed to gain entry to The British Open Golf Championship qualifying in 1976, despite never playing a round of golf prior to the open.

Individual tickets are on sale on the Cinefest’s website with limited availability. Each ticket is priced at $12.50.
