Public meetings are planned in the coming weeks to get the public's feedback on the Festival Square planned as part of the Kingsway Entertainment District.

Public meetings are planned in the coming week to get the public's feedback on the Festival Square planned as part of the Kingsway Entertainment District.

Festival Square is an open space area where public celebrations and other events will be held when the district opens, currently scheduled for 2020.

“Residents are invited to share their thoughts on the Festival Square shared public space of the proposed Kingsway Entertainment District and Arena/Event Centre from June 18 to July 6,” a release from the city said Friday.

“Comments gathered will provide valuable input from the community to help shape the design and functions of the Kingsway Entertainment District and Arena/Event Centre Festival Square. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and ideas about what features, including programming, they envision for the space.”

An open house will be held on Wednesday, June 20, in the gymnasium of Pius XII Catholic School, located at 44 Third Ave., from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Residents can also visit the lobby of the Garson Arena, located at 100 Church St., on June 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the in-person sessions, residents can provide comments online from June 18-July 6 at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca.
