If you are a pet owner with a net income below $40,000 a year, the City of Greater Sudbury and East Village Animal Hospital have teamed up to offer a low-cost veterinary clinic on May 1.

The May 1 clinic is a vaccination clinic. A spay/neuter clinic will be offered in the future.

Those interested must pre-register by emailing [email protected] or calling 519-894-2323.

The clinic will be held at the Ryan Heights Playground Field House, 736 Bruce Ave., from 12-6 p.m. on May 1.

Space is limited.

The cost of a dog or cat examination and core vaccinations is $30 plus tax per pet. Microchipping will also be available for $30 plus tax.

Animals used for breeding purposes are not eligible for the clinic.

“If the clinic is full, residents may ask to be placed on a waiting list or to preregister for a future spay and neuter clinic for low-income pet owners,” a release from the city states.

East Village Animal Hospital held similar clinics in 2019 at Ryan Heights and at Percy Playground.

“The East Village Animal Hospital is a high volume spay/neuter clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive preventive medicine services for pets cared for by low-income individuals, animal rescue groups, humane societies and municipal shelters. The hospital and partner animal welfare agencies fundraise to subsidize services provided by licensed veterinarians traveling from clinics in London and Kitchener.”

Residents who preregister for the vaccination clinic or the future spay/neuter clinic are asked to verify their income upon arrival with proof of government assistance or Notice of Assessment.
