The province and Collège Boréal have signed an agreement to provide French-language college education in central and southwestern Ontario.

The government has agreed to provide $11 million over three years to establish and support delivery of college, education and training programs that meet the needs of students, employers and communities in these areas.

"Collège Boréal is looking forward to collaborating with the communities of central-southwestern Ontario to achieve our common goals of providing quality postsecondary education and training," said Gisèle Chrétien, president of Collège Boréal.

French-language college education in the south has been delivered by Toronto-based Collège des Grands Lacs. Last fall, the college's board of governors recommended to the government that the college be closed. Currently, the college is winding down its operations.

The Sudbury-based college plans to confirm the location of its Toronto campus later this month.
