The Collège Boréal community learned last Friday that two of their students died while camping near Parry Sound.

Robert Hébert, a commerce student in Sudbury, and Darcy Smeltzer, a learner in the general arts and science program, (wildlife and forestry program), both died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The two students are from Noëlville and Alban, respectively.

Collège Boréal has lowered its flags to half-staff in mourning.

An intervention team has been established in order to conduct special sessions for the whole of the Boreal community.

In addition, Collège Boréal counsellors will be available in order to meet with any student who asks for help on an individual basis. Measures have also been taken to meet the needs of the staff members.
