Community members are invited to participate in a June 18 event to pray for an end to the 11-month-long labour dispute between Vale and Steelworkers Local 6500.

The event, which will take place from 10-11 a.m., will be held at the Lansing Avenue Baptist Chapel, located across from Food Basics on Lansing Avenue. A similar event was held last week at the Steelworkers' Brady Street hall.

“Vale and the Steelworkers will be back in negotiations so everyone is encouraged to pray for a change of heart, peace and a resolution,” organizer Kevin Dennie wrote Northern Life, in an e-mail.

Mediated talks between the two parties are scheduled to resume June 18.

Dennie encourages those unable to attend the event to pray at their own churches or wherever they happen to be that day.

For more information, phone Dennie at 524-0161 or Lansing Avenue Baptist Chapel at 566-8588.
