If you’re looking for some Christmas fun this coming weekend, Coniston is the place to be.

On Dec. 1, the Coniston Community Action Network (CAN) invites the public to the second annual Christmas Tree Lighting in the Park event. The event will feature caroling, hot chocolate and cookies.

Canned food donations are also being accepted for the food bank. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a fireworks show put on and organized by Darren Dumontelle and Dreamcatchers.

“Darren asks that no one be in the area of the outdoor rink, skate park or field behind the post office for safety concerns during the fireworks,” Sara Kitlar-Pothier, the chair of the Coniston CAN, told Sudbury.com.

Then on Dec. 2, the second annual Coniston Christmas Parade, in partnership with the Coniston Industrial Park, will hit the road. The fun starts at 6 p.m. from the Coniston Industrial Park and going along Edward Street.

Those watching the parade are asked not to park right near 84 Smelter Road, the entrance to the Coniston Industrial Park entrance, so the large vehicles have room to pull out and start the parade.

After the parade, join the Sudbury Grinch at the Colonial Inn in Coniston for complimentary hot chocolate, care of inn owners Sandra and Dale Bonnis.
