Ward 1 candidate Justin Pappano says it's time to move forward on the Kingsway Entertainment District.

“It is no shock to anyone in Sudbury to say that the debate on the Arena has been divisive and resulted in more bad-blood and political malice than just about any recent election issue," said Pappano in a news release. “We have to move on.”

According to Pappano, “The Kingsway Entertainment District is an excellent project that will bring economic stimulation to Sudbury. Creating hundreds of job in construction, in addition to, the jobs created by the staffing of the facility, as well as, potentially millions of dollars in property taxes that the City can collect, of which they are collecting zero currently.”

Pappano states, “It is no shock to anyone in Sudbury to say that the debate on the Arena has been divisive and resulted in more bad-blood and political malice than just about any recent election issue.”

Pappano urges that, “We have to move on.”

Further, Pappano says, “This is not to say that I don’t agree with those who have said that the process was a disaster. In part, that helped create this divide, but this was only compounded by politicians who rather fight against the decision of Council as a whole for personal reasons rather than for the benefit of the community.”

Pappano calls for citizens to come together, he states, “At the end of the day, this isn’t about the KED vs. Downtown, this is about Sudbury. We have to move on — this city needs development.

We need to set an example for other developers that Sudbury is open for business.

Fighting tooth and nail against developers does not equal being open to business.”

Pappano ended by saying, “Let’s respect the decision of Council and move forward — we are all fighting for the same thing: a better place to call home — let’s act like it.”
