If you'd like an excuse to get out your bike, why not participate in the Sudbury Cyclists Union New Sudbury Days family bike ride Sunday, Aug. 28?

Participants are asked to gather at the Adanac Ski Hill at 9:45 a.m., with the ride starting at 10 a.m.

The ride will last one to one-and-a-half hours, and will follow the Rotary Trail. The seven-kilometre route includes some hills.

This ride is appropriate for families, including younger children who are comfortable riding on roads in single file on a quiet residential street (Leslie Street).

Families who wish to have a shorter ride can turn back at the end of the Rotary Trail to ride only about three kilometres. The trail and road sections can be
used by all styles of bikes.

All participants will be required to follow rules of the road. Those under the age of 18 are required to wear helmets (they're recommended for all participants).

Before the ride starts, riders will be asked to sign a waiver and take part in a brief safety information session.

Bring yourself some water and a light snack to boost your energy along the way.

If the ride is cancelled due to weather, a notice will be posted on the New Sudbury Days website.
