Cambrian College’s Public Relations students have raised more than $10,500 over the past school year as part of program-related fundraising and event planning activities.

The contribution brings the grand total raised by students in the program to more than $70,000.

About $36,000 has directly benefited charities, and the remainder has been donated to the Cambrian College Foundation to support scholarships and bursaries for future students enrolled in the Public Relations program.

With support from previous government grants, two Public Relations endowments now total in excess of $64,000 and generate sizeable amounts of interest each year, which enables the college to continue to fund these student awards.

The fundraising activities also extend to “food raising” initiatives. Last year, students collected more than 1,500 non-perishable food items and raised $60 in cash for the Students’ Administrative Council Student Food Bank
