The Ministry of Labour has confirmed that a dump truck driver was injured and died at Rainbow Concrete yesterday.
Ministry spokesperson Janet Deline said the ministry was notified of the death at around 10 a.m. Feb. 15.
“We have it that a dump truck driver suffered fatal injuries,” she said.
When asked what happened, Deline would not elaborate further, saying that's all part of the investigation.
She also wouldn't say whether the worker was male or female, or give an age.
“Unfortunately we're prevented from releasing information related to the worker due to privacy legislation,” Deline said.
Rainbow Concrete has been required to provide some documentation to the ministry, which is investigating the incident. Two ministry inspectors and one engineer have been assigned to the investigation.
Greater Sudbury Police Staff Sgt. John Valtonen told Sudbury.com last night that police and EMS responded to the incident, as well as the ministry.
Sudbury.com attempted to contact Rainbow Concrete yesterday when we first heard about the incident, but they have not yet responded to our calls.
