Easter Seals Ontario has announced that M.J. (Mary Jessica) Pappin is the newest member of the Sudbury/North Bay regional team. Pappin, who is originally from Northern Ontario and returned to Sudbury 20 year ago, will take on the role of community engagement officer.
Pappin completed an honours degree in Kinesiology at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay at Lakehead University before earning her bachelor of science from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Missouri.
Returning to Sudbury more than 20 years ago, Pappin said in a release from Easter Seals Ontario that she has enjoyed being a business owner in marketing and business development, building relationships within the community. “Raising two little boys in Sudbury with access to the Northern Ontario lifestyle is what drew me home post graduation and currently being a part of this incredible Easter Seals team knowing the work they do across Ontario is so very rewarding,” said Pappin.
As the new community engagement officer, Pappin will plan and oversee local events, raising funds to empower kids with physical disabilities with greater independence, freedom and dignity, made possible through the generosity and dedication of donors, sponsors, local service clubs, volunteers and staff.
One of Pappin’s first events will be the first annual Sudbury Celebrity Hockey Classic, happening October 21 at Gerry McCrory Countryside Arena. The Easter Seals release notes that Pappin is no stranger to hockey, as she is the mother of two players and the daughter of Jim Pappin, best known for his game winning goal the last time the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup.
