Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario has launched an electronic classroom pilot project with Grade 7 students at École publique de la Découverte and École secondaire Hanmer.

The project is called ETAPe, or Environnement technopédagogique d’apprentissage personnalisé électronique (personal electronic learning environment for educators and students).

It is being run in partnership with Centre franco-ontarien de ressources pédagogiques (CFORP) and the company Symbaloo.

The students will work with the latest technological learning tools, such as the smartboard, the touchpad, the Internet and laptop computers.

According to interim director of education Pierre Riopel, “thanks to this innovative project, we firmly believe that it will increase student interest in mathematics, French, art as well as in science and technology through the use of the best electronic resources in a classroom setting.”
