As officers from the Ontario Provincial Police prepare to take part in the 2008 Fall Seatbelt Campaign initiative next week, members of the Espanola Detachment and the Espanola Health Unit are offering their services to all parents and caregivers to ensure they have a properly installed car or booster seat prior to the start of this campaign.

A child car seat clinic will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Espanola OPP Detachment on Highway 17, McKerrow.

Anyone wishing to have their car seat(s) checked and installed by certified technicians, free of charge, is urged to call (705) 222-9202 to book an appointment. Walk-ins will also be accepted. Information/education on the proper use of child restraints will be provided to the public.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury for children ages one to nine. A properly used child safety seat or booster seat can reduce the likelihood of death or serious injury by as much as 75 per cent.
