The Greater Sudbury Police Service invites the community to join in the celebration of Police Week 2016 from May 15 to May 21.

Since 1970, Police Week has taken place in May to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15.

This year’s theme, Discover Policing for Safer Communities, invites everyone to discover the role of policing in keeping communities safe.

Police Week also encourages citizens to consider a career in law enforcement.

“Police Week provides an opportunity to showcase our proud traditions of community service,” said GSPS Chief Paul Pedersen. "Members will be on hand throughout the week interacting with the citizens at a number of planned events, as we embrace our commitment to community safety and well-being. We also invite you to check out our website for exciting careers and opportunities in policing."
