Expect traffic delays on Sunday due to Sudbury Rocks!!! Marathon

Police asking motorists to be mindful of runners

On Sunday, May 13, Greater Sudbury Police Service Officers, Citizens on Patrol (COPs) volunteers and Auxiliary members along with community partners from the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be assisting with traffic control during the Sudbury Rocks!!! Marathon.

On Sunday, May 13, Greater Sudbury Police Service Officers, Citizens on Patrol (COPs) volunteers and Auxiliary members along with community partners from the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be assisting with traffic control during the Sudbury Rocks!!! Marathon.

All events, including the full 42-km marathon, will be held between 7:55 a.m. and 1 p.m. on major streets in Greater Sudbury including Elgin Street, Notre Dame Avenue, Lasalle Boulevard, Attlee Avenue, Gemmell Street, Falconbridge Highway, Second Avenue, Bancroft Drive and Howey Drive.

During this time these streets will be filled with several hundred runners, event marshals and logistical volunteers. Various lanes of traffic will be sectioned off with traffic pylons and Police personnel will be stationed along the route to direct vehicular traffic.

Motorists are reminded not to park on the designated race routes on Sunday, May 13 until the event has concluded.

Officers and event staff will be patrolling the race routes prior to the beginning of the event and any vehicles parked along the race routes will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Traffic delays are expected on the major roadways listed above between the hours of 7:55 a.m. and 1 p.m., and motorists are asked to be mindful and respectful of the event and individuals participating in the Sudbury Rocks!!! Marathon.
