The 2008 Hunting Regulations Summary includes additional wild turkey spring seasons in three Wildlife Management Units in central Ontario. For the first time, a fall wild turkey hunt is proposed.

“Wild turkeys are thriving again in Ontario,” said Natural Resources Minister Donna Cansfield. “The successful reintroduction of this species adds to the biological diversity of our province and provides new recreational opportunities for many Ontarians.”

The summary is now online at ontario.ca/hunting and will be available at hunting licence issuers across Ontario the week of April 21.

The summary provides information on upcoming changes, such as a new, non-resident Outdoors Card to be introduced in 2009, and information on the review of Ontario’s moose program.
