The Municipality of Central Manitoulin issued a fire ban approximately 30 minutes ago.

Central Manitoulin's Twitter account tweeted at around 4:30 that no fires of any kind will be permitted, including fireworks.

The ban will be enforced by the Central Manitoulin Fire team and contravention of the ban will result in a minimum fine of $300.

Central Manitoulin's website states that a fire ban was lifted on July 4, and Sudbury.com has tried to contact the municipality for clarification, but has not received any response as of publication.
